Sum It Up Sunday

I am back home after a work trip to San Diego and couldn't be happier to be cuddled up and cozy! I had a blast and will be blogging all about it later but the blog was well past due for a Sum It Up Sunday....so here ya' go!

With my new position, I get to supervise some of the games. Grayson joined me for a little Mustang basketball! He may have thought it was the coolest thing ever. He got to stay up a little late, sit at the top of the bleachers, talk to a police officer, and eat a Snickers! Talk about the good life.

That weekend, we headed to Lala's for a Matilda Jane trunk show. They had the cutest stuff and I am so excited because I will be having a trunk show soon, as well. So look for that! Then Ella and I headed to get our nails done for a little Mommy and Me time. After that, we headed to see Grayson play and had a blast. Him and his friends have been so awesome this year. It is so neat to see how much their skills have grown!

The next weekend was Valentine's! It was a super busy weekend but a blessing. We made sure to get in some down time between Grayson's game and throwing my sister's baby shower.

And before I continue, can I just share my love for Nickel and Suede (which you can find HERE)?? One of my Valentine presents were their earrings in snow leopard. As you know I can only wear super light earrings and these are so light I don't even notice them. I am waiting for their new colors to come out and plan ordering a couple more for Spring! They are a nice pop of color or pattern and are such a great price. I am now a huge fan! The ones I am wearing are medium. I will probably order medium and small in the future.

Between all of the hustle and bustle, our sweet Grayson lost another tooth at school. Luckily, Daddy was there to document it all and put it in a safe place!!! The dentist says his two front teeth are getting loose and will be the next to go.....how adorable is that????

Last Tuesday, I woke up feeling sick and headed to the dr. to find out I had a sinus infection. Luckily I got a shot since I was getting on a flight and leaving the next day.

Then it was off to San Diego....I learned so much on my trip and will blog all about it soon!! So eye opening and some pretty good stuff. So glad to be a member of NASSP.

But the best part of my week was coming home to sweet faces who were just as excited!!! We had a little living room sleep over and enjoyed a healthy breakfast of donuts and hot cocoa...haha!

Show and Tell: How We Met/Got Engaged

Today I am linking up with Andrea over at Momfessionals for her Show and Tell Linky Party. Honestly, I haven't had much time to blog but I just had to join this topic!! This is one I want down in the books...literally. Since I get my blog turned into a book every so often... I knew this was a story I wanted the kids to have later on.

Joey and I first started talking online...I know...haha....and quickly became friends. He instantly became someone I looked forward to talking to. We found out that we attended the same church and didn't even realize it. I remember that we had talked online and on the phone for months....at least 7 or 8 before we ever saw each other. I was off at MSU going through a yucky relationship/break up and he was my go to person I would talk to. That is one of the reasons we didn't realize we went to the same church....#1 the church was growing and there were different services and #2 I was off in Wichita Falls at school. The next Fall, I got out of the relationship I was in and moved home to be closer to my family and to deal with health issues (when all of my stomach issues began).

The first Sunday back, I knew I wanted to go to church and Joey and I talked about sitting with each other at church. We had never seen each other and he told me where he would be sitting. I remember it like it was yesterday....He was at the back with his friend. He was wearing a green henley with his arms folded in front of him and he had the cutest dimples. My knees were literally weak and I think he realized that I had sprayed half a bottle of Ralph Lauren's Romance on myself (which he still teases me about)!  I also dropped my keys on the way in and the pastor made an announcement in front of everyone about lost keys. Awkward. The whole service I couldn't believe that this person I had come to care so much about was sitting right next to me and was so cute. I had butterflies. We didn't talk too much and we said our goodbyes.

I remember driving home and calling my mom and telling her he was so cute and I swear I am going to marry him. Little did I know....I would one day be Mrs. Acker!!! We started hanging out every day after church and that November 2003, started dating.

My mom didn't necessarily approve of me dating Joey. First, he was 19 (he had just graduated high school months before)and I was about to be 21. Second, he was not in college. I remember our first big date was the beginning of December. He took me to the Nutcracker and then Red Lobster. Oooh, cheddar biscuits. We were talking about why my mom isn't as happy about us dating. I remember Joey said..."Well, I will just start college next month." He literally did and graduated in 3 years.

In August 2004, Joey said we were going on a nice date before school starts back. At the time, the West End in Dallas was a fun, nice place to go. We went to dinner at Lombardi's, he bought me roses on the street, and then we went on a horse drawn carriage ride. It was a gorgeous night and when we got off, he paused. He got down on one knee and proposed. Of course, I say YES and people in the streets around us cheered. It was pretty stinkin' magical. When we got back to his car, he had made a framed collage of all of our pictures along with a sweet letter and had made a cd of all of our songs....I know. Sweet.

Almost 9 years later, we are married with 2 sweet kiddos and look forward to many more!!

Sum It Up Sunday: I Am Behind Edition!!

Yikes. I hope you are cozy and have a nice cup of coffee because this will most likely take forever. I am a bit behind. I won't lie, there are many times I could have blogged but was enjoying watching a movie or playing with the kids. No regrets here!

We have been enjoying weekend basketball games. Grayson is loving it this year and it's so neat to see how much all the boys have changed with their bball skills. Grayson has been doing so good about focusing in on the game and not being afraid to take the ball. We are so proud! The games have been really fun to watch and Grayson has loved having his "fans" there!

Ella is enjoying tap and ballet!! I think she may even enjoy selfies after ballet more! She is doing well in class and loves learning! She is becoming fierce in remember counts and the moves that go with them!

Playing has been the theme of this month. We have played with friends, played with toys, played outside, and have played at the Clubhouse!

Grayson had a sleepover with 4 sweet friends. I made sure to have plenty of snacks for those hungry little guys!!

We enjoyed every bit of sunshine and crazy warm weather this month. Whether it was in the backyard, out at Mimi and Pawpaw's, or the park....we made sure to soak up every bit!

We have enjoyed being with our families. We even got to celebrate Megan's birthday!!! Love her to pieces!

Our neighborhood also held a Build a Bear Workshop at the Clubhouse. The kids had a blast and it was all tied to a good cause. For every bear made, one was donated to a women's & children's shelter.

I was able to enjoy helping supervise my first middle school dance, creating blogging friendships with counselor and mommies around the country, and dressing like a twin at work. Random...I know!

The kids also had a dentist appointment and did great! The dentist said Grayson's top two teeth will probably be loose next and Ella actually let them do a full cleaning for the first time!

And before I go, I have to leave a shout out to the man that keeps our family sane and going!! Orr rock, leader, and my best friend! Joey has been on his A game with me in school and with a new job. I don't know what I did to deserve such a guy...who still does sweet things! Love you!
