Sum It Up Sunday!!!

This past week was my first full week back to work. It was a tiring week getting back into the swing of things but I am blessed to work with such sweet and amazing people that it ended up being so fun!!! Joey and the kids stayed home and just hung out. I think the kids are actually at the age where they enjoy laying low for a bit. They love playing in the playroom or watching movies. We are usually on the go and I am sure will be once we are all back on our normal schedules , but taking it easy has been perfect for our family lately.

I could not even tell you what I did in order this past week. I just know I woke up at 5:15 a.m. every morning and went to bed around 1 ish. I worked, played, cuddled, and stayed up too late watching movies every night.


Okay, so last week I was on my A game with blogging. I didn't want going back to work to affect my personal or counseling blog...so I made sure to keep busy on both!! I did some posts on fashion, my office, instagram challenges, and a fun style post with Andrea at JyJoyner Counselor (love her)!!!

Saturday, we headed to Mama's Daughter's Diner where Grayson and Ella ate everything on their plates and ours. I swear they love that place!!

Of course girls are on one side and boys on the other...haha!

Then we headed to 2nd Saturday which is always so fun. I did a craft and story time and had the best time ever even if it was pretty stinkin' hot!!!

 Sunday, we headed to church and as always entertained ourselves until church started. Ella was asleep, Grayson was pretending to drive and was amazed when he figured out how to mess with the windshield wipers. Then once Ella woke up, we just had to take a pic of what we wore Sunday (which will be a new addition to the blog). Ella wasn't exactly in the mood for a picture.

Friday Faves

First up...I am so in love with this EOS sweet mint balm. Oh my word. I was about to buy a $24 thing of lip balm (even though what we put on our lips is so worth it) but as I was checking out at Target one day, I thought I would try this and I love it! It is super inexpensive but feels and smells amazing!!!

 

With it being back to school, we have been busy school shopping. Two weekends ago we headed to Nordstrom for the kids' shoes. I love buying their shoes there because of the return policy and the kids have looked forward to it since they were smaller. I remember taking Grayson since he was about one to go buy converse up there. He would get a balloon and watch the fish. It has been an Acker family tradition since 2008 and is going strong. Haha!

I have been trying to allow the kids to choose their own stuff. As long as it is appropriate, safe, and not ridiculous...they have choice in their clothes and shoes. It has been hard doing this but I love seeing how proud they are when they get to pick out what they want. I won't lie, I was a little nervous. But...they both picked out absolutely adorable pairs of shoes!!!

With Ella, we had our sights set on getting the new Glimmer Toms but they didn't have them yet. We could have ordered them online but I want to use my Nordstrom debit card to rack up those points!!!

After Ella saw Grayson's shoes....she picked out these. I believe both of these styles are called the "Street Ox" Sneaker."

And last....what I am loving this Friday is 2nd Saturdays in Forney. It is a little set up at Bell Park in downtown Forney near Crumbzz (an amazing restaurant). It is where art is displayed, music is being played, kids can play in a drum circle, and there are neat vendors selling unique. I will be doing a craft and storytime at 10:30 a.m. and would love to see you out there!!!

Sum it Up Sunday...okay...I mean Tuesday!

This week I will keep it short and sweet. I enjoyed my last week of summer break with my sweet family. It was so stinkin' hard on Sunday knowing that I won't be home with my kiddos until next summer and knowing that this time next year Ella will be in Kindergarten. It is unreal, exciting, and sad all rolled into one. I will have two in elementary school next year and it breaks this Mommy's heart and does not seem possible at all. I will definitely treasure every second I have with them because I am truly seeing how fast they grow up...right before my eyes!


Monday, I worked and had meetings so of course I didn't take pictures.I spent the whole day at school and then came home to cuddle with the kiddos. They had went to daycare that day. Since Ella had a rough day, she came home and ate cupcakes. Haha...I love this picture of her! I also found her the day before reading a cookbook. She wanted me to red all of the steps.Of course it was a recipe for cupcakes.

Tuesday, we met my BFF at Starbucks and then headed to do some shopping. I took the kids to Pet Smart afterwards and you would have thought it was Disneyworld. They loved it, y'all! They also decided while there that they wanted a rat. I talked them into settling on getting betas. We didn't buy them that day because we needed to talk to Daddy first! When we got home, Mommy needed some quiet time and sushi (I can't get enough lately) and so I headed to pick up some sushi and visit my old co-workers at their new school. Let me just say...octopus sushi is definitely NOT my thing!!! Then Grayson marked another thing off of his summer to do list and caught some bugs...he caught a cricket and it was his "new pet" Are you sensing a theme here?

Ella found this at Target and said, "Look, Mommy!!! French flash cards!" She just knew those were French style macarons. Haha! They were actually just number flash cards. That girl loves all things French!! Mimi may have added to that this past weekend speaking French to her!!

Wednesday, my cousins came over to visit and the kids LOVED seeing their Shelby!! We hung out and then ventured out to Starbucks and then for the kids to go buy their fish. Let's just say they thought this was the BEST day ever!!! I present to you our new family members....Lilo and Stitch!!

Then we got a sweet surprise from Harper's Bowzaar...cutest bow/wraps everrrr!! I have been so super busy but have to get my order in for more for Ella. Ella modeled her leopard bow wrap and we were very impressed with the style and quality.

Thursday, it started out kind fo cool and dreary and I knew this was my last day of summer. I cuddled in bed with the kids and enjoyed a cup of hot green tea on the porch and listened to my Relax playlist on Spotify.....amazing!!! Then my dad dropped off my nephew, Vann, to spend the night. The kiddos played all day and when Joey got home we took them to dinner. Let me tell you, those boys were a hot mess but pretty stinkin' cute!!!

Friday....I went back to work! It was great to see sweet friends and catch up! That night, my friend Barbi and I met up for dinner at Kona Grill for sushi and then coffee at Mockingbird Station. There were too many laughs!!!

 

Saturday, I woke up to hearing the piano and caught this picture of Joey and Ella...melts my heart. We got stuff done around the house and had an early dinner at Mama's Daughter's diner. Oh.my.word! We love it and the kids ate all of their food and Grayson ate his weight in bacon...haha. He even ate mine!!! We are excited to have a new place to eat as a family to add to the rotation. 

Then the kids spent plenty of time playing outside and riding bikes and we ended the evening with plenty of cuddling!

Sunday, we headed to church and to visit our families. At church, the kids thought it would be hilarious to play with a dead cricket and put it in a dollhouse and make it drive a tractor. I mean they thought they were SOOO FUNNY and were laughing hysterically. It was pretty funny but the mommy inside of me made me wash their hands stat and put on hand sanitizer. Then my friend, Barbi stopped by with sushi...because we love it that much!!! It was a perfect end to our week!!!!
