I love "Love!"

I have always been a hopeless romantic. When I was little I was the biggest fan of fairytales where the prince and princess got married. As a teenager, it was movies like "A Walk to Remember" and "Gone With the Wind." Now it is "The Notebook" and my fav, "Breakfast at Tiffany's."

Luckily, God gave me a husband that likes to do sweet, romantic things for me. His proposal on a horse drawn carriage...priceless. His sweet song he wrote and performed at our wedding....beautiful. This year's Valentine gift....speechless...I didn't know if I should laugh, cry, or scream...lol!

He had taken funny looking mustache pictures in January and I guess he saved them. It was very creative...

The kids enjoyed their Valentine messages on their door (thanks Pinterest) and their little candy hearts! We didn't give them too much because I swear they have been getting "presents" every stinkin' week! We are trying to steer away from spoiling and move towards being humble and thankful because I can definitely see the effects of it lately!! They were so happy though and Grayson's favorite heart said, "We love our little ninja." Any other mommies out there have a son in the Lego Ninjago phase? : )

The past two weekends, Grayson and Ella were super excited to get to hang out with their cousins on both sides of the family!

Now I am not going to lie, the kiddos and a someone we won't name (ME) can't keep quiet about our excitement.....because we are going to Disneyworld this summer! I can't wait because it truly is so magical!!

 We still have awhile so I am focusing my attention on studying for my LPC exam which equals frequent Starbucks trips...hehe.

Also, I hope to focus on turning our office into a playroom. Pinterest has been a bit discouraging because their playrooms all seem to be super amazing, over the top, and obviously without a budget so we will see how that goes!!

When all else fails....eat ice cream!

This past weeked was amazing...simply amazing. We didn't do anything big but it is just so stinkin' nice to just hang out. Joey finished painting the house which made him one happy guy!!! We got our taxes done and have already planned on using  our money for a trip to Disney World this summer...I can't wait...we are pretty big Disney fans in this family!! It will be both of the kids' first time!

I am also officially addicted to Just Dance...well the whole family is...we have all been playing it almost every night. We spent Saturday night playing until 10...I know what you're thinking..party animals!! We even ended the night with ice cream sundaes.

So here are the things going on this week in the Acker home:

*I saw that Kindergarten round up is next month...is this for real? Can it be possible that our sweet baby will soon be heading to big kid school???? At least he will be with his daddy! Joey was telling him in the car the other day that he will be his PE Teacher and Grayson will need to call him Coach Acker...lol...just how Ella calls me Ms. Melanie in Sunday school.

*Ella went in to get her first cavity filled and ended up having to get a crown.....again....ice cream made it better.

*Grayson is going to try out tennis lessons.

*Tell your school counselor that they are awesome...it' School Counseling Week!

Let me leave you with my facebook status update tonight....it just shows you never know how kiddos react to things:

Trying to be a cool mom totally failed tonight...I bought this bath tub fizzy egg shaped thing....you put it in the bath water and it turns the water colors and a "baby dinosaur" hatches from the egg as it dissolves. I put it in and we watched it and talked about it and then they saw the tail of the plastic dinosaur sticking out, which they thought was real....they then scream and cry and try to get out of the tub. Mission cool mom=epic fail.

Short and Sweet....

Last weekend was a 4 day weekend and it was amazing! I spent lots of time with the kiddos, lots of time relazing, and found out how much I love playing tennis!

I won't lie...I was pretty spoiled by our amazing spring-like weather. I was so excited about the goodness of how it felt outside that not only did we spend lots of time playing but I got eager and got some highlights...haha! So here's some pics of our amazingly short week!

And last but not least...HAPPY 26th Birthday to my sweet, strong, amazing lil' sis, Megan! She is my bff and I love her so much! We have been through good, bad, and just plain funny stuff and I hope she has an amazing birthday!

Quick Week in Review

It has been busy lately...like super busy! This weekend we bought curtains for 4 rooms, bought a new bed set for our room, and still need to paint all while having a little cutie with the flu. Here is our week in review...


We spent last weekend at Cici's (which we never really go to) and Target...kids thought it was the best night ever...even better than when we do big things! Funny, how the small things bring joy!

Poor Grayson got caught flu and had to go to the ER at Children's. He is doing much better and we hope that is the last the Acker fam will see of the flu!

We tried to keep Ella away from Grayson and she enjoyed a manicure, some shopping, and sushi!

Learned a few things and enjoying the break!

I must say that our family has never spent so much time at home. We planned on painting (well I didn't paint any) so that kept us around and then Ella had a double ear infection. All I know is I don't know how stay at home moms do it, I have to give them props! I am such a busy person and get stir crazy within a day! But I did learn that sometimes it is good to just take it easy! Oh and our house did get painted which is nothing big to anyone else but oh.so.exciting for me!!! We just did a neutral color in the main part of the house since the rooms are all painted! Bye, bye bare, white walls! I so will NOTmiss you! Thanks to my hubby and sweet cousin Tina and Shelby for your help!

I have been meaning to blog about this since Tuesday because I was so excited! Nothing big but something I learned!! I went to Starbucks to meet up with my bff and we headed off to do some shopping afterwards. In 30 minutes, she helped me find some pretty amazing deals! I never have looked for deals because I guess I was a little lazy to do so but I am so going to start!!! I also hope to look for coupons, too, because she whipped one out at the register and helped me save even more money. I am just so excited because it does feel good to get a great deal whether a person has to bargain shop or not it just seems smart. I most likely won't be able to get good deals on most of the things I buy...but I guess some make a difference!!!

I even got a great deal at Northpark. I usually like to buy stuff at Groovy's, TJ Maxx, and I heart Ann Taylor Loft. I went last weekend and got some slacks for work (originally 69.50), a cute gray and white heart shirt (29.50)and heels (79.50) for an amazing deal!!!

Originally it would have all been $178.50 and then I thought I would pay around 80 something which still would have been a good deal and then at the register I only paid $35!!!! I was shocked! So to sum it up, I learned you can sometimes get nice things at a good price. Joey is pretty happy about this new mind set! He probably thinks this means I will try to spend more since I am saving....lol...maybe so!

I also need some major help...I need to stop buying jewelry. It's my weakness. Today I was trying to organize and clean some out...and gave up!

And I am super excited about my pinterest inspired Blessings board. Joey and I have wanted one because we thought it was a neat way to jot down things we are thankful for or to write down any prayer requests and we love that when people come over they have wanted to write on it! It was super easy to make. You just a huge frame (16x20 or bigger), burlap, and some dry erase markers!

 Then yesterday we spent some time having a Just Dance party! It was some good times! Joey's sweet cousin Amanda came over and me and the kids danced the day away...literally....for 3 hours.
