God Made My Family.....

Joey and I have been blessed to have found such a wonderful church. It is called Mclendon Chisolm Baptist Church and it has the sweetest people ever, a nice small town feel, and most important, a strong biblical message. Well, when we began going there we knew we wanted to get involved. So, one day when I was dropping Grayson off I noticed that their pre-school kiddos class was growing so I volunteered to help out. At first, it was not exactly what I had in mind because I teach and have little ones at home but sometimes it's more of what God wants us to do as opposed to where we want to be. Now, a couple of months later, I love it. Joey has been playing the guitar and hopes to get more involved and really hopes to do God's work in all that we do. Well, last week our Sunday school message was about how God made our families and how they are blessings. The kids drew pictures and I just have to share how cute Grayson's was.....

Well, I just love it and am so thankful to get to be with such a neat group of kiddos. Speaking of kiddos, Grayson and Ella are loving everything that comes with summer. They have enjoyed ice cream and swimming at Nana and Papa's and will soon get to visit Mimi and Paw-Paw's (they have had some sickness in the house). We definitely had a relaxing ol' time and school is not even out. This Saturday will be our last day and I am just too excited! We already have a busy summer ahead full of throwing a baby shower for my friend, Ella's first birthday, my cousin's wedding, our five year anniversary, and all the full things you get to do in the summer. Hopefully, we'll squeeze in some time to relax.

Thursdays Seem Like Fridays....

Is it just me? I guess I am such a rascal that I get SO excited on Thursdays. I guess because I feel like Fridays are fun and we're almost there. I guess that is why I let Grayson stay up late and we had a good ol' time tonight. Here's a bit of how me and Grayson and Ella spent this Thursday evening (Daddy was doing Field Day plans for tomorrow)!

1. We had breakfast for dinner (second time this week) and it was PANCAKES. That was Grayson's choice.
2. We played outside and it felt amazing. Grayson attempted to mow the lawn with his bubble mower and Ella went down the slide and then cried....she was a little nervous.
3. I taught Grayson how to play dominoes. He is pretty good and beat me twice...he is so smart that when I did win, I did not feel as guilty about being excited. He told me, "Mommy its okay if you win one time."
4. Ella danced the night away to...you guessed it....that furry little guy, ELMO!

Now of course I would never tell you about it and then not post pictures but Grayson accidentally deleted all of tonight's lovely pics. I did, however, find this lovely one for you.

I love that little guy! Oh and Ella is just a growing like a weed, well, more like a flower. She is singing, dancing, taking steps here and there, and is as dramatic as ever. We went to the dr. today and on three separate occasions, nurses and a doctor said what a beautiful but dramatic baby. She was of course putting out her pouty lip and kind of crying. That business will have to stop....haha!
Well, our school year is coming to an end and although it is bittersweet...this mommy is SO READY for a summer with my babies! If tonight is a peek into what the summer will be like....then this will be a blessing of a summer!

Easter!

I am a bit behind but as usual our family has been super busy. Here are five things that have happened since I last blogged:

1. Easter was so much fun and even more of a blessing now that we have a church home. We were able to talk to Grayson more about what Easter is about...yay for that!
2. Ella has already started taking her first step or two, she turned 10 months last week and is already showing A LOT of personality.
3. I got highlights...haha...okay maybe I am the only one that thinks that is exciting.
4. We have loved spending time together and have been hopping to birthday parties, school events, church gatherings, and more. We hope to relax soon with summer break around the corner!
5. I LOVE reading blogs....I have found some cool ones with crafty ideas I can't wait to try this summer!

Come On Summer!

Here I am....11:15 p.m. on a school night. By Golly! My schedule has been sooo off. I am usually out by 8 or 9 but for some reason this week has thrown me off.....it's probably because of the storm Sunday night. We woke up around 2 a.m. and got in the closet due to the tornado in Forney. We are all okay, praise the Lord!! But ever since then I just can't sleep at night...but then it reminded me of staying up late in the summer.Then my mind started focusing on all the fun things I want to do this summer....wishful thinking...

#1 Go to Lego Land

Grayson is sooo into Legoes and so is his Daddy! :) They also have stuff for the tiny ones to do, also! They just opened one in Grapevine!

#2 Take a Mini Vacay

With a baby and a 3 and  a half year old, it may just be a mini vacay to our fav place, The Gaylord. It is so fun and nearby and you can catch great teacher deals in the summer. They have also added an outdoor pool/water park area!
#3 Cuddle in Bed with the Babies....past 7 a.m.

(P.S. This is not my bed....haha!)
#4 Do Some Evangelism

My hubby does this a lot and it's something I would love to do with him. What better way to spend the summer? Spreading the Gospel......priceless. :)
#5 Read 50 Books to Grayson and Ella

Why 50? I don't know...it just sounded solid....haha....but I want to promote literacy as much as possible with my babies!
#6 Buy an awesome new camera

I want an awesome camera that will take vivid, crisp pics!
#7 Make Grayson a headboard

(Not Grayson's Room) My cousin's wife is an amazing interior designer (not by trade but by talent) and she has made headboards that look amazing. When we moved Grayson into the room he is now, we could not find any bed frames we liked so his poor little bed has just been sitting there. I would love to do something navy or striped. I am excited to start this project!!
#8 Throw Ella Grace the coolest first birthday eeevveeerrrr!

You gotta love this red, furry guy...Ella sure does. If she even hears his little voice she waves her arms like there is no tomorrow. With Grayson, it was the Wiggles! Before I had kids I always said, "My kids will never have anything with characters on it!" And now here I am three years and 2 kids later and I guess I was wrong, it's about what they like and enjoy...so an Elmo party it will be!
#9 Enjoy the Summer Sun (Imagine I am at a beach but really laying by my in-law's beautiful pool)

Oh and make plenty of Sonic trips....mmmmm...for the kiddos of course! :)
#10 Enjoy being a temporary stay at home mom and wife to the best family ever!!

The Second Child....

It is so interesting when you have a second child. It is so different than the first but each is special in their own way. Here is an example:

Grayson has always been extremely cautious. He tells me to put both hands on the wheel when driving, he is apprehensive about certain things, he is a picky eater. He is very smart and has sat still since he was old enough to sit up to read or go over letters and sounds. He knew all of his letters  and sounds by 16 months (I know, I know....now I am just mommy bragging...lol!) It takes him time to warm up to people he does not know. He makes sure to slowly get in the water because he is unsure of it. He is our sweet loving big boy who we love so much!

Now to the second kiddo:

Ella is only 9 months old almost 10 but her personality has already "blossomed." She is the happiest baby and knows no strangers. She literally hangs on to the side of the bathtub and just lets go to fall backwards and thinks it's funny, while I am panicking! She eats anything in sight and will bite, grab, or jump on any moving thing. She is a little fireball! She is so wonderfully sweet and wants to be with her big brother all the time. She cheers in excitement when he is near. She keeps us running has so much energy.

Yet, with two such different children, I guess its safe to say that people are right when they say your second one is different. But I just love how neat it is to watch them. It's a blessing to have two, wonderful children who have such unique characteristics about them.

As I am writing this my husband just came in with a mohawk, it seems he decided to shave his head. He will buzz it all but thought he would humor me. What a rascal! I guess he was hot from mowing and thought he would just get rid of his hair..lol!

Well I am off to make a picnic dinner in the backyard and then to get ready for the week. Only 8 weeks left to summer break! Y'all have a great week.

Update On My Health

It has been a crazy couple of months. I have been trying to figure out what is up with my health! I had a lump begin to appear in my neck around the time I was pregnant but it was very small. Around November 2010, I noticed a big, hard lump. I went to the doc to see what it was and he said it was a swollen lymph node and to just keep an eye on it along with taking some antibiotics in case its just an infection. Two months later they started testing because they wanted to know why my lymph node was swollen STILL and why I had signs of inflammation in my blood work. Long story....short...I had a CT scan over spring break, they found that my lymph node in my neck is really swollen and the other is beginning to swell, as well. Then Tuesday, I had a biopsy and I am just waiting to hear back.....the waiting game stinks with a capital S! I am trying to prepare myself for the worst so that when it's hopefully not a big deal, I will be surprised. I appreciate everyone's prayers and I will keep you all posted! I know that God is sovereign and whatever His will is, is part of His plan!

On the home front, the Acker household has been busy! We have had so much going on and those sweet rascals are keeping Joey and I busy. We are so blessed and could not have asked for a sweeter son and daughter. Grayson has been too presh...with his big blue eyes and confident personality. He is so sure about everything he says and has also dabbled in a bit of story telling. Ella is starting to show her dramatic side. She truly shows her emotions and makes sure someone is watching. She is the sweetest baby and is always smiling. She is still a petite thing but has been cruising and getting into everything...including loving on bothering her big brother! Well I hear Grayson now (Ella is snoozin')....so I better go see what he's getting into...lol! Please keep our family in your prayers, prayer is so powerful!

Spring Break!!!

Okay....I am no longer making any promises to be consistent with my blog. Life happens and as a wife, mommy of two, teacher, and a servant of God sometimes I don't get a chance to get on. I truly enjoy blogging, though, because it's so neat to read past posts and see how God has changed our lives in just a small amount of time. I hope to eventually learn how to make all the cute fancy blogs soon or at least pay someone to make one for me...haha!

Things are going pretty wonderful, the Lord has really blessed our family far beyond what we deserve. Grayson and Ella are growing so fast and we still can't believe we have two...We are still really praying on whether or not to have a third but for now, we are just enjoying these two. They are so hilarious, they are only 3 and almost 9 months old and they are already driving each other crazy. In the car, Ella stares and smiles at Grayson and he says, "Daddy, Ella is looking at me!!" It makes him so upset! Or when Grayson cries, Ella laughs at him and it just takes it all up a notch!! Ella is already being a little sister...haha! I really relate to Grayson having a little sister and brother but we hope that we can raise them to be there for each other. I know that will come with time...
At least, they love being with each other when they are not driving one another crazy.

We are on SPRING BREAK...YAY!! I have enjoyed pinkberry and sushi with my sister, almost sis-in-law, and friend and then a mani and pedi with my sister in law, a fun family trip to the zoo, lunch with friends, church, an evening at the Harbor with Joey's family, family pictures today, and tomorrow Chuck E Cheese and then my parents. It has been non-stop fun but seeing the kids, I think we will slow it down and relax the rest of the week.
