I've been bad at this!

Well, I was checking on here to see when the last time I put a post was....since I know we have family around the country/world that check up on us on here. When I saw that my last post was in January, I realized that I am pretty bad at this whole blogging thing!

Wow, a lot of things have been happening since then! Our family has been very busy and Grayson has been growing sooo much!

At his last 18 month appointment, he weighed 30 pounds and measured 32 inches tall! Everywhere we go, people ask how old he is or try to start talking to him like he's a "big kid." I have to tell them...."He's only 18 months, almost 19." He has been talking A LOT and labels everything. Even Joey and I's things....he'll say Momma's and Daddy's. He LOVES reading and his new favorite book is, "Go, Dog, Go!" We read it 2-3 times a night and then he'll go back through and he will "read" it back to me. He has been running and climbing a lot too and has been very social.

Last weekend, he got his first haircut at Cool Cuts for Kids in Rockwall and got a new spikey do! Its too cute!

Joey has been busy and he's still at Rhea and loves teaching PE. He will be going to LA next month to do some ministry training and ministry work on Hollywood Blvd. I think it will be an awesome experience for him and we are really blessed and looking forward to his experience there.

I am STILL in school. I am finished with all my classes but I am completing my internship semester 1 now and I will have part 2 in the fall. I have applied for some counseling jobs but realized I want to stay in Forney because I love it and my school is amazing. I am just putting it in God's hands! I am still teaching Kinder and I love it! Yet I am ready for summer!! I am so excited Joey, Grayson, and I will be off all summer long together! You can't beat that!

Joey and I have also been discussing our next baby and when....we are thinking next year but we want to see what path my career will take first!

Growing Grayson!

Wow! Have things been busy lately! Grayson is growing so fast and is amazing us with all the new things he is learning to say and do! There are some things we are trying to get used to! He has begun to throw fits lately and has begun to "cheese" it for the camera BIG TIME as you can see in the pictures! He is also learning to brush his teeth which is so funny because he ends up getting it on his shirt rather than his mouth! He will be 16 months old tomorrow!!! It is amazing how fast it all goes by!
Joey is doing great and he is really enjoying teaching PE at Rhea which is a new school here in Forney. He will start taking piano classes at Eastfield to have something to enjoy in his spare time. I think he is so talented and I think it will be a fun way for him to still do his music.
I am doing good! I just have 2 semesters left of my master's program. I am taking my comps January 31st and I am soooo nervous! My kindergarten class is fabulous and wok is going good! I love my school but I have been thinking about whether or not I will try to get a counselor's job for the next year. I am just praying about it all because we have also been talking about when we want to try for another baby!
Speaking of babies, Grayson does not seem like one anymore, he is such a big boy! He is still at Barnyard Private School in Forney and he loves it! He usually runs to me when I pick him up but yesterday he looked up at me and smiled and kept on playing! I must admit my feelings were a little hurt but it also made me feel good that he is so happy there, they really keep him busy!

The Holidays are Here!!!

I can't believe that the Holidays are already here! I was thinking of how blessed our family is! I am so glad we are both teachers in teh same disctrict because it is so nice to have our breaks together and be with Grayson all at the same time. Grayson has LOVED us all being together each day. He has been so happy and playful but I can tell he misses playing with his friends at school.

Now with the Holidays rolling around, Joey and I decorated the whole house already for Christmas. We were a bit weary about how Grayson would do being a 14 month old with all of the breakables around and the ornaments. But Grayson has been great! It has been so cute and funny. He gets a sneaky look on his face when he walks around the tree and walks with his hands behind his back like a little soldier. When we're not looking, he will get his little index finger really close and look around waiting to hear us say, "No, No!" But he has been so great!

Hopefully we will have some new pictures up for those of you that have not seen him in awhile! He has been so independant lately! He wants to do everything by himself already but he balances it out with sweet hugs and kisses!

Well, we are going to go decorate Joey's gym for Christmas and take Grayson to the germ place......aka Chuck E Cheese. Everyone have a blessed Thanksgiving!!!

Grayson's 1st Birthday!!!

Grayson's 1st Birthday was last weekend! It was a lot of fun and I still can't believe that he is already ONE! When he was born, everyone would always tell me....it goes by so fast! I never realized how right they were until last week.


We just had a party for him at home with close family and friends and he brought muffins to his school! He loved all the attention he got, he was majorly cheesin' it for everyone.

Joey and I are doing good! Joey is really enjoying teaching P.E. and has found out that he is very interested in the health side of it all. He is considering becoming a dietician or nutritionist in the future. He had mentioned being a Doctor but I think we can only handle one in school right now...haha! He celebrated his birthday, September 24th. He turned 24!



I am enjoying my class of 18 students, they are all so neat! I have been so busy with teaching, being a mentor to two new teachers, my grad classes, and getting in my counseling hours. My practicum has been very eye opening. I have been counseling students, doing guidance, and going to testing coordinator workshops. I also get to coordinate Red Ribbon Week which will be overwhelming but really exciting!

Today we are going to my parents. They are just having family over for a cook out! See y'all later and God Bless!

Back to "Reality!"

Well, the Acker Family is back to reality! This summer was so nice, it was our first summer to have a little one and the first summer where neither one of us had to work! It was awesome even though it was a little busier than we had expected.
This past Monday, Grayson went back to the Barnyard Private School and Joey and I went back to work! It was a lot harder than I had ever imagined. As I dropped Grayson off Monday morning, he literally hung on to my shirt and cried. As his sweet teacher (she really is) took him and tried to calm him, he kept crying saying "mama" and waving bye-bye at me. When I got to my car, I began to cry. It was not that hard dropping him off at daycare for the first time when he was 6 weeks old but I knew since we had bonded so much more this summer it was going to be tough. He is really happy though and they have a curriculum for his class, he moved to the Babies class which is for 1-18 month olds. He learns sign language and reads stories and even does worksheets (how funny is that!) He really loves it once he is calm!

Joey and I have been busy at staff meetings, Meet the Teacher Night, and getting our stuff ready for school to start. Joey's office and gym look great while my class is coming together. We are so excited about the school year to start and although we're sad about not being all together everyday, we are ready to be back on a schedule.

Grayson is not walking yet but he is cruising, which for those of you who don't know....that means walking using furniture to hang onto and stuff like that. He is standing on his own but only when he wants to and I can tell he is not all the way comfortable with it. We know he will amaze us when he is ready!

I will go back to school this week on Wed. and Thurs. nights which breaks my heart because I will just catch Grayson before he goes to sleep. It will be hard but it is almost over. I just have 3 semesters left so I'm almost there!! We had Grayson's one year pics taken today, hopefully when we get them, I can post them on here! I am so excited to see them!

Ravioli Messes and New Tennis Shoes!

Well, we have realized that Grayson does not prefer Ravioli in his mouth, he prefers it everywhere else! The other day, I turned around for literally a second and when I turned back around......Grayson dumped his bowl over and rubbed it on his face, hair, and all over his high highchair. At first, he looked worried, then he just began to laugh and smile, Little Rascal!! He was also cruising around the music room in his new tennis shoes which are the only type of shoes he will keep on his feet. Regardless of how much money Mommy spends on cute little flip flops and sandals!! He also had fun playing his Daddy's drums so I thought it was cute and added the video for everyone to see!

I am off now......Joey is watching Grayson and I am going to go work in my classroom!

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!!!

Sorry to everyone that checks this regularly. We have been so busy the past month, I have not had time to sit down and really update the blog. July has been filled with many activities (Grayson's 1st trip to Chuck E Cheese), exams for me, a 3-day conference for Joey, a trip to see Aunt Lauren at UNT,family weddings and get togethers, and lots of "exploring" for Grayson. This month is my mom's birthday and Joey's mom's birthday (the same day) and I haev family from the Philippines and Austrailia in.

Grayson is continuing to grow and is beginning to stand up a little on his own without holding onto anything. He turned 10 months last week. He does push things around and walks but has not taken any 1st steps on hi sown yet. He has been saying more words like...ba-ba, Dada, Mama, and some other words we have not fully made out yet....haha! He is not in daycare this summer and has really become attached to me and vice versa. I think it is going to be so hard for all 3 of us to get back to our regular school/work schedules. But Grayson really loves his school, they do so many neat things there. This summer Grayson has been taking a music/movement class called KinderMusik: Peek a Boo, I love You! He has loved it so much. He really "hams" it up in front of the class! Tomorrow will be his last day. We were thinking about letting him take a fall semester but it is the same night as my master's classes.

Joey just got back from a PE Conference in Waco. He was gone for 3 days. It was really hard on both of us because we had never been apart that long.....I could barely sleep those 3 days....I missed him so much I literally had bags under my eyes when he came home. Grayson and I were sooo excited when he got back, but it was a good experience that I urged him to take on.
